I'm fundraising for remote and rural Queenslanders doing it tough

Doing it tough in the bush means doing it extra tough, because people in remote, rural and regional Queensland don’t have the same access to professional mental health services and support. For many, the Flying Doctor is their only option.

That’s why I’m challenging myself to walk 3km a day in March. I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Please support me!

Together we can keep the Flying Doctor flying, delivering 3 major mental health programs (Drought Wellbeing, Remote Wellbeing and Wellbeing Out West) and over 12,100 mental health consultations a year to regional, rural and remote Queensland.

Please donate to my challenge today!

Day 24 - Goodna River Walk

Tuesday 24th Mar
Today's walk led me to the riverfront park walk at Goodna. Completed 3.58km in 0:51:59.
Decided to go at sunset when it was a bit cooler, and less people around. Still wore my sunscreen and hat. Felt a bit weird wearing sunglasses on my walk but it was definitely necessary.
It felt good to get back into the swing of things. I still have a long way to go.
Hoping to complete 2 sessions tomorrow. 1 in the morning and then 1 at sunset again.
Need to do 6km for the rest of the challenge to complete my goal of 93km.

I have 44.52km to go.

Todays stats
Steps: 6,849. - (4,984 during the walk)

Day 21 - Rocks Riverside Park

Sunday 22nd Mar
Day 21 saw me complete a 4.83km walk along Rocks Riverside Park in Seventeen Mile Rocks.
Starting in the middle of the park I walked along the riverfront and explored the old freight area looking at all the cool structures.
Then headed down the riverfront Bikeway path going as far as almost the centenary bridge then turned back.
The heat and humidity was next level. I probably chose the wrong time to walk in the middle of the day. Felt like I was gonna pass out a bit.

I completed 5,898 steps in 1:15:56

Took a little break in-between

Day 19 & 20

Day 9 & 10 were spent with doctors and dietitians.

Day 8 - Hamilton Boardwalk (I SMASHED IT)

Monday 9th Mar
OMG everyone what an achievement today was. I successfully completed my 3km in 44:33 today the quickest I've done so far. Plus walked from Hercules Park in Hamilton to Newstead and back.
1 way was 3.05km and the total completed for the day was 6.06km in 1:27:13.
I started work at 3:30am and didn't think I'd have the energy to walk 6.06KM LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL.
The views were amazing and the rain keep on pouring but regardless I continued to walk. I wasn't going to walk today because of the rain but I thought no the RFDS needs my support and commitment.

Burned 638 Calories and completed 7,888 steps

Overall for the day
15,979 steps
11.47km

Day 7 - Forest Lake Peninsula

Monday 9th Mar
This walk was something special, both Erica and I wanted to try this one.
After I had completed work for the day I drove to Forest Lake Peninsula to complete 3.00km. This area was so large, I drive past it regularly and couldn't believe the size. 1 lap = approximately 2.7km.
We saw heaps of water dragons on the walk and families walking around it was lovely to see.
we did 3.00km in 52:56.
Burned 339 calories and walked 4,184 steps.

Total for the day
12,720 steps
8.46km

Day 6 - Denmark Hill and Limestone Park

Monday 9th Mar
Well it's clear today we were feeling ambitious to say the least.
Erica wanted to try a walking trail in the centre of Ipswich called Denmark Hill. The tracks were labeled as moderate so we thought it wouldn't be too bad. Omg we were wrong. For beginners Denmark Hill is not recommended. We did see a beautiful sunset.
We did roughly over 1.5km at Denmark Hill which took over 35mins before we moved on to Limestone Park where it was safer and there was more light.

Overall completed 3.06km in 56:14
Burned 401 Calories and did 4,086 steps.

Total for day
4,936 steps and 3.35km

Day 5 - Jamieson Park

Monday 9th Mar
Day 5 led Erica and I to Jamieson Park in Scarborough. The rain held off for the majority of the walk. Our goal was to take in a breath taking sunset but the clouds had other plans.
It was my day off so I was less motivated to complete my 3km today but regardless I pulled through and smashed 3.93km in 1:03:20.
Burning 337 calories and completing 4,704 steps.

Total for the day
6,183 steps
4.36km

Day 4- DFO Brisbane Airport

Monday 9th Mar
Ok so today's challenge, Erica and I decided to take indoors as it was blazing hot and I wasn't feeling the best. I started work at 3am and was exhausted. But regardless we pushed through.
Completing 3 laps of DFO to give us 3.01km in 55:34. Not too bad of an effort definitely felt dizzy after that.
Burned 331 calories and completed 3896 steps.

9.42km

Day 3 - Hamilton Boardwalk

Monday 9th Mar
