I'm fundraising for remote and rural Queenslanders doing it tough
Mental health is my reason that I wanted to get out and do walks! I begun feeling depression knocking on my mental door as I started feeling like life was becoming a little overwhelming for me. Walking has always been something that brings me joy through all of my spirals and as I started thinking about walking again my Facebook become flooded with March challenges and giving the reason I started seeking to walk... I couldnt think of a more appropriate cause to hold me accountable then the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
As someone who has lived civilised, rural and remote throughout my life time, I have experienced first hand the difference in receiving support but also how isolating it can feel when you are fighting mental battles. If the strength i find in helping myself can also help others, im here for it!!
I will walk the minimum 93km for the month of march by aiming for a minimum of 3km a day, but also making up for any missed days. I would love to exceed the 93km for the month but let's see what life allows <3>
Together we can keep the Flying Doctor flying, delivering 3 major mental health programs (Drought Wellbeing, Remote Wellbeing and Wellbeing Out West) and over 12,100 mental health consultations a year to regional, rural and remote Queensland. Because doing it tough in the bush means doing it extra tough, because people in remote, rural and regional Queensland don’t have the same access to professional mental health services and support. For many, the Flying Doctor is their only option.
